When my friend Laurie asks me to write a review for one of her new books the answer is always yes. And not just because we go back a long time and she gave both of my kids fine art lessons for years when we homeschooled. But because she puts her whole self and a lot of thought and care into each book.
Get Real, Lucille is a picture book for kids ages 5-8. It’s colorful, fun, and has a positive message embedded within for kids and the grownups who read to them. We all have these questions at some point in our lives: “Am I enough?” and “Would it be better if I were someone else?” This is what comes up for Lucille.
Lucille is a rubber chicken who wants to be real. She performs in a circus with her friend, Peaches, but doesn’t think that’s exciting enough. She’d rather be a farmyard chicken. She sees what they can do that she can’t and wants to be one of them.
Will Lucille get her wish? Will she leave the circus for the farmyard? Or will she discover how wonderful she is and appreciate the talents she has and the life she lives? With bright illustrations on every page and a storyline to capture attention, the children in your life will love Get Real, Lucille!
Get Real, Lucille by Laura Petrisin is out today August 5th and can be ordered at your local bookstore, Bookshop.org, Barnes and Noble, and Amazon!
Thanks so much, Kim! Love you!
